OWRFC Players' Player Award
This prestigious award is presented by the OWRFC and is awarded to a Wellington College 1st XV player as voted by his team mates.

"The Players' Player Award is for character as much as achievement. It need not be for the best player or the player who has scored the most points. It is for the team player who, with acknowledgements to Rudyard Kipling, you think most fits the following citation. Kipling’s son John was an OW who was killed in World War One. Think about what the poem means. And good luck!"

If you accept the referee's decision, when all the rest
Are blaming him and arguing the toss,
If you can cheer and thank the opposition,
When your team mates are cursing at their fate;
If you can smile and get the others smiling,
When the hundredth practice is just dragging on,
If you are hurt, but don't give way to hurting,
Or when you're fouled against don't deal in fouls,
If you can fill an unforgiving Bigside
With eighty minutes' worth of distance run,
You're the Players' Player and our hopes that go with it,
And, what is more, you'll be a man my son.
